Since 1996, Aspyr Media, Inc. has been dedicated to expanding gaming in the realm of Macintosh personal computers. Aspyr owns 60 percent of the Mac entertainment market and has branched out into other platforms and forms of media, including independent films and musicians.

Aspyr works with companies such as LucasArts, Electronic Arts, Activision, Eidos, Warner Bros., and Paramount to bring popular games such as the The Sims, Madden NFL, Star Wars, Tony Hawk, and the Tomb Raider series to the otherwise game-parched Mac user.

Along with distributing games to Apple computers, Aspyr encourages independent film and music. The company has released DVDs including The Journey, Live From Shiva's Dance Floor, and Growing A Beard. Bands on the Aspyr music label include Knife in the Water and Milton Mapes. Aspyr also publishes games for the PC, and Game Boy Advance.
