Synopsis
Panzer Dragoon Saga picks up many years after the conclusion of Panzer Dragoon. Players take control of Edge, a simple guard at one of the Empire's excavation sites. During the excavation a girl encassed in stone is found. An attack ensues and the people Edge was hired to protect are all dead. After confronting his attackers, thrown down a hole, and faced with death, Edge is rescued by a dragon that aids him on his quest.
In Panzer Dragoon Saga players will do more than fly on the back of the dragon. Many times the player will travel on foot in order to interact with village townspeople who can provide useful information. Also while at villages players can purchase weapons and items.
Battles are in real time and primarily take place while Edge is riding the dragon. In order to perform an action, one of three meter bars must be filled. The meter bars represent: the item menu, Edge's pistol, and the dragon's homing lasers. When multiple meter bars are filled at the same time special attacks become available.
