Sega Rally Championship features four tracks set in mountain, desert, forest and lakeside environments. Included are four rally vehicles each with distinctive handling and precise modeling to maneuver varied terrains and driving conditions.

Drivers can experience off-road racing in three modes of play: arcade, time attack, and two-player battle. Arcade mode pits players against 14 computer opponents in either one or three lap contests through a variety of courses. In Time attack drivers are challenged to race against the clock through three laps. The free run option allows you to race an infinite amount of laps. Players also have the ability to turn on or off a ghost car.

In two-player mode you race against a friend via split-screen contests consisting of three laps, five laps, or time lag. During time lag the first car to reach the checkpoint sets a countdown in motion, challenging the second car to reach the checkpoint before time expires.

Sega Rally Championship is a port of the Arcade game. The rally series is influenced by all previous Sega Arcade racers. Some of those titles include Daytona USA, Hang On and Monaco GP.
