Synopsis
Madden NFL 97 includes 99 NFL teams, past and present. During each game John Madden and Pat Summeral provide color commentary. The game also makes use of QSound Virtual Audio, developed by QSound Labs Inc., in order to provide more realistic sounds.
Modes of play include: Exhibition, Tournament, and Full Season. During season play James Brown describes the best match-ups of the week before each game. After the season ends players can go to the Pro Bowl and see which of their players were selected.
Over 60 player and team stat categories are tracked. A large number of plays are available for both offense and defense. Loaded with options, Madden NFL 97 includes: various weather conditions, trading players, creating players, instant replay, and many other features.

Electronic Arts began the John Madden Football series on computer systems, such as the PC and Commodore 64, in the late 1980s. Those games were more realistic and closer to simulations than the eventual console system releases.
The series firt hit it big on the Sega Genesis and then Super NES. Both systems received a number of sequels and the series continued its success into the 32-Bit era.
