Synopsis
This text refers to the PC version of this title. In 1976, America's Viking Orbiter sent back to Earth some startling pictures of the surface of Mars. Included in those pictures was the now famous Face, a rock or object bearing a striking resemblance to a mask of sorts. This mile-long surface anomaly sparked debate for decades afterwards -- was it a Martian-made object, part of a complex of structures that included The Fortress and The Penta-Pyramid formations or just a rock outcropping with coincidental face-like features?
Now you have the chance to find out in Cydonia -- Mars: The First Manned Mission. It's the year 2012 and your mission is to lead mankind's first human expedition to the Red Planet to investigate and explore for purposes of human colonization. The moment your lander begins to approach the surface, a strange force field pulls your ship down and forces an emergency crash landing. Stranded with no communication with mission control, you, as the only uninjured member of the landing party, must find and destroy the source of the force field to have any hope of returning to Earth.
This science fiction adventure, drawing from Russian and American space program capabilities, draws you into a complex mystery that is played out in first-person non-linear interaction. Full 360 degree movement, directional stereo sound, a smart cursor system and multiple endings complement your journey to Mars. Other features include a "suit computer" with Lander uplink, dialog recorder, mission data, decryption tools, mission archives (in-depth history of NASA missions), inventory management and an image database.
Lead the way! Become the first person in mankind's history to explore the mysteries of the Red Planet!
