Synopsis
The number one selling basketball game on the Genesis returns with 16 updated teams based on the 1992 NBA playoffs. New features include the ability to create your own All-Star teams, call defensive plays and substitute players using complete team rosters. More signature moves have been added as well, so you'll see Karl Malone's "In Your Face" Jam, Shawn Kemp's "Off-the-Glass" Jam, Tim Hardaway's "No-Look Pass and Layup" and many more.
Returning from 1992's game are the T-meter free throw system, instant replay, updated in-game stats, and team logos and colors on home court. Game modes include a Tournament and One Game Exhibition, which can be played cooperatively or competitively with a friend. If you need to continue your Tournament at a later time, you can do so via passwords available after each win. Bulls vs. Blazers and the NBA Playoffs is the third game in Electronic Arts' basketball series for the Genesis and first to feature the EA Sports brand label.

Extra Credits
Before EA Sports launched their popular NBA Live series in 1995, they were busy bringing gamers NBA basketball in the form of NBA Playoff based releases. The series started with the release of Lakers vs. Celtics and the NBA Playoffs during 1990 and due to the emergence of basketball as a golden sport through out Europe and Australia, the title picked up huge support on both the Megadrive and PC. In fact, the original MS-DOS version is probably my most played game to date. A sequel in the form of Bulls vs. Lakers and the NBA Playoffs reappeared in 1992 under a similar look and feel as the original, but in reality it was more of the same.
Basing itself on the 1992 season, Bulls vs. Blazers and the NBA Playoffs released in 1993 adds more moves, custom features such as All-Star sides, new rosters for all sixteen finals contenders, and defensive plays. EA Sports later changed the series name and playoff base to NBA Showdown 94 and NBA Live but the influences from this series still carried on through.
