Review
Earthworm Jim remains one of my favorite action games for the SNES. Why? Because it's silly, crazy, cartoony and fun. The characters in Earthworm Jim are all unique, and the story is original and intriguing. How many other games have you played that star an earthworm who was accidentally transformed into a rampaging superhero?
The situations Jim finds himself in are hilarious. Whether it's bungie jumping with snotballs, traversing hell (and fighting lawyers in the process), or riding a giant hamster (yes, a hamster), Earthworm Jim is a roller coaster ride of surprises, delights and zany antics. The enemies are amusing and fantastically drawn. The cartoons are nicely colored and shaded, making them look as realistic as a cartoon possibly can.
Earthworm Jim is for gamers and civilians of all ages. The gameplay is marvelous and older folks will pick up on much of the disturbing humor that younger people may miss. The inherent silliness of the game appeals to the youngster in all of us. Truly a game for all ages, Earthworm Jim has something special for everyone and anyone who plays it. Guns, whips, exotic creatures, fantastic enemies: it's all here, and with no gore, unless, of course, you count boogers.
This is definitely a game for anyone with a sick mind and an itchy gamepad finger. If any of you weirdos out there are searching for someone you can identify with, Jim is the worm for you.
Graphics
Nice colors, excellent background. The cartoons are clean and crisp.
Sound
Great music and sound effects. As Jim says... "Groovy!"
Enjoyment
I thoroughly enjoyed playing this game and shaking my head (while groaning) at Jim's antics.
Replay Value
The surprises you discover for the first time are less effective the second time around.
Documentation
The instruction manual is humorous and colorful, but you won't really need it with this game.
