Die Hard Trilogy 2: Viva Las Vegas [European]

Synopsis

by Scott Alan Marriott

The world's unluckiest tourist must once again save the yippee-ki-day in this follow-up to 1996's Die Hard Trilogy. Rather than follow the events of the first three films, the sequel features an original storyline set in Sin City. Help John McClane rid Las Vegas of a terrorist threat across three distinct game types, available for play individually or together as part of the main campaign. As in the original Die Hard Trilogy, you'll battle terrorists from a third-person perspective set behind McClane, take to the streets in action-packed driving missions, and blast foes from a first-person viewpoint with your favorite light gun peripheral. Advance through all 25 levels to win the game.

Die Hard the movie was always going to make for a good conversion to a videogame due to its all out thrills and non-stop action. By 1990 Die Hard debuted on the NES and TurboGrafx-16; the results were good but it wasn't until 1996 and 1997 that developers started to look once again at using the Die Hard license (with the exception being Die Hard 2: Die Harder).

Lending the license to Sega for their Die Hard Arcade release, Fox Interactive also set about developing Die Hard Trilogy for not just the PlayStation, but also the Saturn and the PC operating system Windows 95. As a three-in-one action title Die Hard Trilogy received quiet, yet strong success in a crowded 1996 videogame market.
