Inspired by one of Homer's classic tales, Odyssey: The Search for Ulysses pursues the fictional exploits of Heritias, a childhood friend of Ulysses who was banished from Ithaca after the Trojan War. Ten years later, Queen Penelope summons Heritias to search the seas for her beloved Ulysses, or bring proof of his death. With such a titanic challenge before him, Heritias sets sail for far distant shores where he plans to follow Ulysses's trail.

Rise to the challenge of mind-bending puzzles as you explore this detailed three-dimensional world through a floating camera that tracks Heritias as he travels from place to place. Experience the trials of Ulysses and encounter the mythical heroes, monsters, and gods that populate richly detailed Greek and Roman mythology. Marvel as Heritias navigates his way through the land of the Lotus Eaters and the ruins of Troy. Outwit famous monsters like the lumbering Cyclopes, the Gorgon, and Cerebus. You even meet gods like Poseidon and Hades.

Conversations are handled through a menu interface and you decide whether Heritias kills or barters to get ahead. His benevolent or selfish behavior in dealing with characters is eventually judged and it's possible to journey to the afterlife and visit the Elysian Fields. Be careful, though; if he leads a less-than-noble life, he may end up sharing tortures in Tartarus with Tantalus and the Danaides.
