Icewind Dale: Heart of Winter

Synopsis

by T.J. Deci

This game is an expansion pack for Icewind Dale, the RPG adventure based on the Advanced Dungeons & Dragons rules and set in the Forgotten Realms universe. Like other AD&D-based RPG's from Black Isle (including the Baldur's Gate games and Planescape: Torment) the gameplay in Icewind Dale involves a mix of real-time exploration and the ability to pause the action for turn-based style communication and combat, featuring parties of up to six player characters interacting in detailed, hand-painted environments. Icewind Dale: Heart of Winter enhances the basic Icewind Dale game by offering new quests, higher-level characters and monsters, multiple difficulty settings, and support for 800x600 display resolution. While the original game is required to use this expansion pack, players do not need to have completed the original Icewind Dale adventure in order for their characters to visit the new game areas provided by Icewind Dale: Heart of Winter.
