Synopsis
The Guardian has returned for the "Time of Testing!" In Ultra Vortex, you are a warrior summoned by the Guardian to fight for the future of your race. Six other warriors have been summoned for this test and you must defeat them all before being allowed to face the Guardian.
The fight is displayed on a horizontally scrolling screen. The backgrounds depict the worlds from which the competing warriors originated. Power bars across the top of the screen show the health status of each warrior.
All of the warriors can move forward, back, jump, crouch, kick, jab and pummel (throw rapid punches.) Each warrior also has several special moves that are activated by pressing a combination of buttons. Special moves include the Lighting Blast, Fire Breath, Sawblade and Grim Dive of Death.
Players can adjust options such as difficulty, gore, sounds, and set time limits. Games can be played as single matches between any two warriors or as a series of matches in the tournament.
