Review
Madden NFL 95 is a great football game loaded with the usual options by Electronic Arts. There are the teams that feature all of the real players and team logos. Full season and playoff modes with tons of stat tracking. Over 100 different injuries. Instant replay and 4-Way Play adapter compatability. A poster featuring complete team rosters and key team plays. Madden NFL 95 is a football game with everything.
Great gameplay puts you in complete control. Passing is simple and allows you to view the whole field. Receivers are marked clearly by a large yellow letter corresponding to the controller buttons. Read the defense and drop the ball over the receiver's shoulder. Once you take control of a receiver or running back you use a variety of moves to escape defenders. When rushing with a quartback you can slide to avoid being hit and injured. The controls really are the best part of the game.
One gameplay complaint is with the play selection windows. They are surrounded by a rectangle with moving lights rotating around the edge. This can be distracting and give you a headache. This won't hurt the game though because of the incredible amount of detail to the game, but it is annoying.
Player graphics have a realistic look to them. The field is large and the scrolling exceptionally smooth. Great sounds place an emphasis on the hard hitting tackles. Also, Madden lends his voice to make note of the great plays and bone crushing hits.
The computer is not a great opponent as usual though. Especially if you have played your way through this videogame series which began with John Madden Football in 1990. The computer opponents may be getting better but so are you. Nevertheless, Madden NFL 95 is a great game that football fans and even non-football fans will find very enjoyable.
