Biography
Best known as the designer/programmer behind Defender, Eugene Jarvis began his career at Atari as a programmer on such pinball machines as Superman and Airborne Ranger. Leaving the company in 1979, he assisted in the production of three pinball machines for Williams before beginning work on what would become Defender. An innovative and wildly popular game, the success of Defender in 1980 led Jarvis, with Larry DeMar, to form Vid Kidz, a development company that would go on to create Robotron: 2084, Blaster and Stargate. Later in his career, Jarvis helped develop NARC, Smash TV, Cruisin' USA and Cruisin' World.
